Bringing your pet to The Who Dat Nation Rally and Music Festival this weekend? Well then dress him or her up in black and gold for the Who Dat Nation Krewe of Paws Costume Contest & Parade.

Long time New Orleans journalist Angel Hill is set to judge the costume contest along with Tommy Aucoin, Bayou 95.7's Kat.

“It’s not too late for everybody,” Hill said. “It’s Friday but you can do a lot overnight and get there Saturday and register at 11:30 a.m. and on we go for a beautiful pet contest and parade.”

The costume contest kicks off at noon with the parade to follow at 12:30 p.m. Tickets to the event are $25 and all proceeds will be donated to Jefferson SPCA, Animal Rescue New Orleans, Spaymart and Take Paws Rescue. Hill is an avid supporter of animal-related causes and said it was a no-brainer for her to participate when she was asked by the event's organizers.

“I just love people who love their pets and who care enough about them to go that extra length and get them involved in something like this,” she said. “It’s just joyful. There’s no bad news. It’s just a happy place. That’s what I love.”

Prizes for the top three costumed male and female pets include gift certificates from Aucoin Hart Jewelers and each registered pet will receive two complimentary tickets to attend the festival. The Who Dat Nation Rally and Music Festival runs Friday through Sunday and features performances by New Power Generation Celebrates Prince, Cowboy Mouth, The Family Stone, Choppa and many more.

Hill encouraged people to come and cheer the pets on even if they aren’t particpating in the contest.

“It’s going to be for four-legged fans which I think is going to be hilarious,” Hill said. “There’s so many wonderful people in this community who do that who, dress their pets in black and gold, so we’ll have a great contest.”
